Endeavour Mining named as Single Mine Origin's latest partner

Multinational group Endeavour Mining has been revealed as Single Mine Origin’s (SMO) latest partner.

Endeavour, which listed on the London Stock Exchange in June 2021, has signed a membership agreement which allows SMO use of its Ity mine in Côte d'Ivoire.

It becomes the second SMO certified mine and will join Hummingbird Resources’ Yanfolila site in delivering fully traceable gold, mined in accordance with the highest industry standards.

Launched in 2018, SMO is a joint venture between precious metal experts, Betts Group and the gold exploration, development and production company, Hummingbird Resources.

SMO certification provides an auditable chain of custody for the entire supply chain, with full segregation from mine to finished product.

QR codes offer consumers a direct link to the source of the metal used in each product, as well as giving an insight into the impact each purchase has helped to create through community and environmental projects.

Betts Group managing director, Charlie Betts, said: “We are excited to partner with Endeavour Mining to meet the growing demand for responsibly sourced, traceable gold. SMO is underpinned by a belief that informed and responsible product sourcing should be a priority across our industry. We have an exceptional opportunity to change the way things work.”

Last month, Deakin & Francis announced that it will use SMO certified gold to craft all of the signet rings it manufactures. The family-owned jewellery company joins renowned names such as Boodles, Sheila Fleet and G. Collins & Sons in using SMO certified gold in its jewellery pieces.
