The Foredom LX Pendant Motor is permanet magnet motor, these motor are specifically designed to high torque / low speed applications, this offers more power for jobs like stone setting, wax modeling and pearl drilling. It's perfect for low-speed work such as stone setting, where speeds higher than 5,000 rpm can damage the mechanism of hammer action handpieces. This is Foredom's most powerful pendant motor, delivering high power from start-up to its maximum speed of 5,000 rpm. This Pendant Motor is supplied without a handpiece.
The Foredom LX Pendant Drill has been designed to work for applications that needs more power like stone setting, wax modeling and pearl drilling. This permanet magnet motor features full power and torque from start up and throughout the entire speed range up tp 5,000 rpm. This Pendant Drill has a standard 39" long key tip shaft and a more flexible neoprene outer protective sheath. The foot control for the LX pendant drill looks the same to standard foot controls but it works slightly different, the internal electronics that converts AC current from an electical outlet to DC that is required for the LX pendant motor.
Foredom have designed a hammer action handpiece which works with the slower LX model of the Foredom pendant drills due to the fact it has a high torque and a lower speed of 5,000 rpm, this allows the hammer action to be controlled better. As well as the handpiece is not designed to be operated at the high speed. If you would like to use your original drill please take care not to run the drill on full to prevent any damaged caused to the handpiece and your work. As the hammer action hand piece works on a knocking action the tips are not the same as the burrs and drills, they have a screw tread which tightens the tip into the collet.
